OHIAS' mission is to educate and empower people everywhere to live responsibly, just and sustainable as our natural world requires. We believe and many will agree sustainable communities are the foundation stones and life blood of a sustainable planet.
Question of our day.
Are we not obligated knowing all we know about ourselves and our natural world to live responsibly, just and sustainable as our natural world requires.
Our health is at stake ...
because the health of our planet and its finite life-sustaining natural capacity is at stake.
So goes Mother's health
... so go her children.
Many believe our greatest challenge today is global climate warming. There's no doubt that its occurring and its potential implications upon people and community. Yet climate warming is just one of many self-inflicted issues facing humanity today, yet none are greater than preserving the remaining life-sustaining capacity of our natural and finite world.
OHIAS believes the reason for this is we with our superior intellect are failing to grasp the reality of our time and day regarding our finite living planet. Far too many of us believe it's OK to consume and waste many times more than our planet at 7.4 billion people and growing is capable of sustaining. Continuing down this road and believing government, science or technology alone or collectively will save us and our world's natural capacity to sustain life is foolhardy . What we need to do is simple, put the health of people and planet first, showing uncompromising RESPECT for all people and life. Doing this all things will more naturally fall into place, creating the type of health, harmony and energy our most beautiful planet and people deserve and our children can inherit.
Our mission and work is to educate assist and empower people and community to live more sustainably and responsibly. An objective of our mission is to end waste of natural resources and human potential by putting all to work for the benefit of all people, community and planet.
This will be accomplished locally we hope with the creation of a Marin Community Benefit Cooperative where much of our so called waste from our BUILT and URBAN FOREST environments will be transformed into new higher value reuse materials and products for community benefit, by LOCAL PEOPLE desiring wholesome work and opportunity. This COMMUNITY effort and work is important for a great number of reasons but most importantly our natural and finite living planet requires it.
Although improved health is the paramount objective the effort will also provide a substantial boost to our local economy and our overall sustainability.
Further details regarding these and other program elements and benefits are covered on the following pages.

While many may believe our thinking is foolish and impractical, it’s our belief those who believe this are the foolish and lacking a basic comprehension of our planet’s natural world and its limited (finite) capacity for sustaining life and good health.
